Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) has gone to considerable effort to improve the health and safety of its workers over the past several years. The company introduced a number of concrete actions to improve general health and the availability of company resources at work.
In 2009, as part of its continual improvement efforts, BRP reinforced its disability management plan to enable those affected by disability to return to work in the shortest possible time period.
The development of a good proactive disability management program requires an in-depth knowledge of the work environment. Employer representatives, the insurer, members of the work relations committee and Plexo experts worked as a team to define the Return to Health Program which truly meets BRP needs.

The success of the program rests on five factors:
_The involvement of a disability expert for precise diagnosis.
_Fast intervention: the employee has access to a health professional within 48 hours.
_Proper training for the employee on their health issue.
_A structured treatment plan involving the treating physician as well as the various required health professionals.
_Overall personalized case supervision by a Plexo nurse who is an expert in proactive disability management. This nurse is assigned to BRP and works to ensure tight collaboration between the employee in difficulty, the involved health professionals, the employer and the insurer. Case supervision starts with the initial employee referral and continues right up until the employee returns to work.
